Abstract

|
Codiaeum variegatum ¢¥Yellow Jade¢¥ plants were treated with 100 mL of uniconazole at 0.2 or 2 §·¡¤L^(-1) and sprayed with GA©ý at 50 §·¡¤L^(-1), and then placed under the 460-560, 280-370 or 20-60 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1) photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) in greenhouse. Sixteen weeks after treatment, GA©ý increased plant height, internodal length, petiole length, leaf length and width and leaf area, whereas uniconazole reduced them. Under the high irradiance, leaf variegation was increased by foliar applications of GA©ý and plants had upright branches oriented more vertically. Chlorophyll and total nitrogen contents were high, but xanthophyll and sugar contents were low under the 20-60 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1). Under the high PPF with GA©ý treatment, the presence of leaf variegation was the best, and so the Codiaeum variegatum ¢¥Yellow Jade¢¥ had the highest ornamental value.
